Greetings.
I began to photograph the beauty of Carmel and Big Sur when I moved to the Monterey Peninsula in 1999. I shoot with black and white medium format 120 roll film and also large format 4"x5" sheet film, which I then develop and enlarge to light sensitive silver-gelatin paper. It is my personal belief that the compositional strengths and tonalities of photography engage the viewer more fully in the absence of color.
I grew up in the wooded west foothills of the Santa Clara Valley, California, and studied fine arts at Humboldt and San Jose State Universities. I am thankful to have been raised to appreciate the arts and natural beauty.
